6. Dust, static, heat and water are the enemies of gear. Your job is to keep the gear from meeting these foes.

7. Learn to solder, particularly audio cables used in post-production. It's really not that hard, is very Zen-like and once you have the basics for cable production you will save a fortune in cable costs-plus you will feel the exhilaration of knowing your project isn't going to be delayed for lack of a cable. 8. Clean your lenses correctly. Learn how to clean a lens with a carbon lens pen and a rocket blaster.

9. Store your lenses correctly. Always store a replaceable camera lens with a cover over the sensor or a lens attached. Always store a lens with covers on both ends.

10. RTFM. Read the F*@#$ manual, BEFORE you use it. Heck, even before you buy it. CPM
