Shot Diary - Continued

The number one goal is preserving the integrity of the artist. Whether it is a wedding, concert or unique performance, I try to capture the essence of the moment. This usually takes place more in the editing phase, but the footage has to be there. From a technical perspective, you want to match the choreographed motion to create the illusion of a multi-camera shoot, but that gets dicey when the installations are more free-form in structure. For this reason, I take a more interpretive approach. Many times that requires re-arranging the true chronology in favor of a more expressive feeling. The non-linear nature of this event made it fun to edit. Every opportunity is an opportunity to learn something new.
